It’s nice to see a Livermore Winery win in a large wine tasting event. Out of 3200 wines evaluated by 55 wine judges from around the U.S. on January 10-13 in Sonoma, Wente Vineyards won in the up to $13.99 USD Chardonnay category with it’s 2004 Wente Vineyards, Vineyard Selection Chardonnay. Congratulations to Wente, the winery Robert Parker claims is responsible for his favorite Chardonnay clone in California. In fact, 80% of the Chardonnay grapes from California can trace their roots back to Wente’s Clone. Think about that the next time your drinking that $80 cult chardonnay.
Congratulations to all the wineries and winemakers of the top 65 wines, which can be found here. [Sfgate.com]
