Four score and two thousand one hundred and eleven days ago, this wine blog first graced the world with it’s presence. In a lack luster post with minimal verbiage and a link that now points to a broken page, the blog set a standard that it has continued to uphold down to today.
This site still remains a hobby for myself, and as a means to inform my friends of wine news, values, and the occasional rare find. Are there better wine bloggers out there with more dedication, a better grasp of grammatical syntacticationality, and more time on their hands? You betcha! But, that doesn’t mean I’m throwing in the keyboard or slowing down. On the contrary, I believe this medium is constantly developing and I plan on progressing with it.
Here’s to another 6 years.
P.S. For actually making it to the end of that rant, you are automatically entered in our free book drawing! Just leave a comment below (anything really, a
smiley is fine) and you’re in. Six winner’s will be selected on Tuesday morning, September 1, and you can pick any book below (first come first served, the first winner will be able to choose from any book, the second will be down whatever the first person choose, and so on). I’ll update this post Updated with a more extensive list of books to choose from:
Wine For Dummies (For Dummies (Cooking))
Passion for Pinot: A Journey Through America’s Pinot Noir Country
The Billionaire’s Vinegar: The Mystery of the World’s Most Expensive Bottle of Wine
Noble Rot: A Bordeaux Wine Revolution
The Emperor of Wine: The Rise of Robert M. Parker, Jr., and the Reign of American Taste (P.S.)
Wine Spectator’s Ultimate Guide to Buying Wine, Eighth Edition
THE RULES
One entry per person please. Open to U.S. residents only. No entries after Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM PST will be accepted. The winner’s will be announced Tuesday, randomly chosen posts from the comments section of this page! Once the first winner makes their selection, that book will no longer be available from the list, and subsequent winners will have a smaller selection to choose from. Some links may be pointing at the wrong edition of the book, but for the most part, I believe we are pretty accurate.
Update: Comments are closed! The winners will be announced today and notified via email.
I can’t believe you’ve had this going for 6 years! Congratulations on having a successful hobby. As a wine expert you probably will recoil at this, but I was introduced to a wine that I really enjoy from some friends. They take 2/3 rose and mix it with 1/3 red and I love the taste of this. Sorry I’m such a redneck.
I love your “informational” blog and actually read most of it. I’m going to keep it handy and check it again before I buy another bottle of wine.
Thanks,
Marika
Hi Marisa,
Thanks for the comment. I also find myself slipping on the lab coat and blending wines I have on hand. Wineries do this with their own stuff, so why can’t we? Sometimes the results are surprisingly good.
Get er’ dun!
Marika,
Thank you. I’m not sure why you put informational in quotes, but, I’ll take it.
I win!!!
fail.
Glasses up for Congrats on your six year triumph!
Paso Robles product of the vine is ascending.
Stop by on your next trip.
Recently got a deal on 2006 Cab and Merlot by Francis Berwyn.
Wine lady said she bought the entire stock of 2000 cases.
Is this a good one??
(Trudy says Napa is for auto parts, Paso is for the great wine!)

Hahaha, haven’t heard that one before.
Haven’t tried the Francis Berwyn. Let me know what you think of it (I trust your palate).

Hi Jate, Wishing you well on your next 6 blog years!
Thanks DK! I only registered the domain name for 10 years, so we’ll see what happens in 2013. (Perhaps my interest in green tea will morph this site into Teaexpression.com)
Liz C.: My palate has diminished since then, now everything smells and tastes like Mexican food…
HMMM….Mexican Food……
Congrats Jathan,
I’m not surprised that you have had this blog for 6 years. I knew you could do it! I fondly remember the early years of wine tasting at our house. I was always so impressed with your grand ability to distinguish the slightest hint of flavor and aromas in each bottle we tried.
Look forward to reading more.
HMMM are you possibly trying to tell me something?… Maybe you and Katie would be interested in a Mexican Food Tasting and pairing of wine of some sort? I’ll provide the food and you two the wine.
